Welcome from the Dean:

Our Faculty is located physically and intellectually in a strategic place. Due to its location in the old Military Hospital building and within the almohade Alcazaba, from its beginnings it became a fundamental axis for the recovery of the down town of Badajoz, and for having singular, cultural, technological and audiovisual resources that differentiate us from rest of the centers such as Onda Campus, or Campus TV.

The official inauguration with the name of Faculty of Librarianship and Documentation took place on Friday, April 21, 1995, and was provisionally housed in the old school of the Hernán Cortés Residence of the Provincial Council of Badajoz. Our first degree was the Degree in Librarianship and Documentation, and during the 1997-98 academic year the Degree in Documentation was incorporated. In the academic year 1999-2000, the educational offer was completed with the Degree in Audiovisual Communication, now fully updated with the current regulations on Degrees with the offer of Degree in Audiovisual Communication, Degree in Information and Communication and a joint program with both degrees. By Decree of the Consejería of Education and Culture of the Junta of Extremadura on October 8, 2012 changed the name to Faculty of Information and Commnication Sciences.

The Faculty of Information and Commnication Sciences is not only a teaching institution, it is also a reference center for research in the areas of Librarianship and Documentation and Audiovisual Communication and Advertising, with a large number of Research Groups funded with competitive projects.

However, our greatest strength is people: teaching and research staff and management and services personnel perfectly prepared to take on the challenge of an excellent and accredited training, with special emphasis on quality and with clear plus: proximity to students, which makes possible personalized attention.

A greeting to everybody, and welcome to the newly incorporateds.
