Social and employment resources

Social resources

  • Student Attention Unit. If you have a disability, family problems, or are going through a difficult period (stress, addiction, depression, etc.), the Unit can provide you with support and resources. The Unit has coordinators at each of the University Centres.
  • Equality Office. Our goal is to identify any cases of inequality and gender violence within the university environment. We create resources designed to provide psychological and legal advice and to prevent and ensure prompt identification of discrimination and gender violence.
  • University Development Cooperation Office. The aim of the University Development Cooperation Office is to work to make a decisive contribution to the battle against under-development, since the consequences of this problem are potentially catastrophic for humanity as a whole. For this reason, UEx is contributing to development in impoverished countries, according to the commitments taken on by developed countries within the framework of the United Nations.
  • Student Insurance. If you suffer any kind of accident on university premises or a family misfortune, the Student Insurance scheme could be of use to you. Ask for more information in your Centre or at the Information and Administrative Attention Section.

Employment resources

  • Employment Guidance Office. The University of Extremadura and the Extremadura Public Employment Service (SEXPE) are aware of the importance of university training being designed to meet the needs of the productive system, and are carrying out a range of actions based on an agreement signed between them in order to achieve the goal of bringing the university institution more in line with the world of business. The Employment Guidance offices located on campus can provide guidance and direction to those looking to enter the labour market. They run projects to improve specific training and employability to complement these actions.
  • Added-value services. The “ADDED VALUE” Programme involves holding seminars in order to improve the professional, management and human skills of the university’s graduates. The Added Value Programme is aimed at students who are about to join the labour market or have already done so. The courses it offers aim to improve students’ abilities or to help them specialise or practically apply the knowledge acquired during their degrees.
  • Employment Portal. Since it was set up in 2004, 21,814 students and 1,452 companies have registered with the University of Extremadura’s virtual employment platform (Pathfinder), and 8,644 jobs have been offered on it. The great level of interest and use of this tool by regional companies and the number of students registered with it have made Pathfinder one of the leading generators of university employment.
